Accommodations
We’ve reserved the group site at Tally Lake Campground in Whitefish, Montana from June 5th to June 8th.
The site can accommodate up to 100 people, so there’s plenty of room for everybody and we would love for you to camp with us! Due to unpredictable mountain weather, we recommend car camping.
If you would prefer to stay in your own site, you can make a reservation exactly six months ahead of time at recreation.gov. Ex. December 5th for June 5th reservation.
Camping with us is encouraged, but we understand that might not be everyone’s cup of tea! Downtown Whitefish is approximately 40 minutes from the campground and has lots of hotel and Airbnb options.
Some of our top recommendations are:
The Lodge at Whitefish Lake (very family friendly)
Firebrand Hotel (downtown, pet friendly)
Après Whitefish (pet friendly)
Things to do
Glacier National Park —
Glacier National Park is just 30 miles from Whitefish and one of the most beautiful national parks in the country! The famous Going to the Sun Road will likely still be closed due to snow, but there are still plenty of accessible trails to explore. These are some of our favorite things to do:
Bike the Going to the Sun Road (pro tip: rent an e-bike)
Hike to Avalanche Lake
Morning drive up the North Fork (start early, grab coffee and huckleberry bear claws at Polebridge Mercantile, hike around Bowman Lake)
Whitefish Mountain Resort —
Hike or take the scenic chairlift to the summit for a beer and spectacular views into Glacier National Park and the entire Flathead Valley. It will be opening weekend at the mountain and you can also mountain bike, zip-line, hit the alpine slide, or do the aerial adventure park. Great for family activities!
Downtown Whitefish —
The cutest little ski town! Ahlani moved to Whitefish from Reno in 2017 and spent five awesome years there before moving in with Kyle in Missoula. The downtown area itself is pretty small but there are tons of cute stores, coffee shops, restaurants, bars and a brewery.
FAQ’S
Where should we fly into?
The closest airport is Glacier Park International Airport (FCA) in Kalispell, Montana. 15 minutes to Whitefish.
Another option is Missoula Montana Airport (MSO). 2.5hrs to Whitefish.
Do we need a car?
If you’re flying in, we highly recommend renting a car! Tally Lake Campground is about 18 miles from downtown Whitefish, with approximately nine of those miles on a well-maintained dirt road. While there is Uber in Whitefish, you definitely shouldn’t rely on it to bring you to the campground or Glacier National Park.
You can rent from any of the major rental companies (Enterprise, Budget, Hertz, etc.) right at the airport.
Please carpool if possible!
Should we bring our own groceries?
We will provide dinner and drinks on Friday (tacos) and Saturday (pizza) nights and a bagel breakfast on Sunday morning. If you’re camping, please plan on bringing your other meals and snacks! There is a Safeway and Super 1 (open 24hrs) in Whitefish along with plenty of local markets for all your favorite goodies.
Will there be cell phone service?
Service is pretty good in populated areas like Whitefish, but there is no service at Tally Lake Campground or Glacier National Park. Please plan communications accordingly!
Can we bring our kids? Dogs?
Of course! We would love for your kiddos and pups to celebrate with us. The campground is dog friendly, we just ask that you keep everyone under supervision.
What should we wear?
Friday biking — bike stuff, duh!
Friday taco night — very casual cozy camping clothes, expect it to get chilly at night
Saturday wedding — let’s get fancy in the woods! bright spring colors, cocktail attire (camping-elevated lol)
Sunday — camp clothes, bathing suits
